Live! Live! Leave!

"...her name is Akira. She's the prettiest girl alive. And the fact that I'm her boyfriend makes mHekiest person alive."

"But now that you're away from her... are you still a lucky person? Will you get her back again?" he asked me with a smug grin on his face.

And my name is Kuro. I've been stranded in this unknown and seemingly uninhabited island for a while now and I'd say I'm glad I wasn't alone but then, this person keeping me company is a really weird person, so I'm not so sure.

And I think it's best to start from the beginning.

"Woooow! Look at the sea! It's so beautiful!" Akira exclaimed as she pointed at the endless blue seas that surround the cruiser we're in.

Akira's long blonde hair swayed as the wind blew. Were at the deck that morning, she couldn't stop praising the sea, as if she's never seen one before. Although I did remember she told me she was strictly kept inside the house so strolling around and hanging with friends was new to her.

"Kuro, Kuro look!"

I scratched my dark brown hair as I forced myself to get up from my seat to join her. It can't be helped. It'll really be troublesome if she starts complaining or crying in public. With me just standing by her side already makes her happy. I'm happy as well but, there are these times that I don't understand her feelings. I actually get annoyed a lot with her odd perspective of things.

But either way, I like this girl... a lot.

Standing by the railings, I smiled at her before turning my attention to the ocean. It's not something I'd appreciate, it's just water. Endless water. What's so amazing?

I got too stuck with my thoughts that I didn't notice Akira's gone quiet.

"Say Kuro, do you think my parents will agree with this?"

"Huh?"

"Do you think... they'd accept us?" She asked with her eyes glued to the floor. Her hands playing with the curls in the side of her pink dress.

That's right. Akira is one of those with problems with her family, especially her parents. She lives in a big mansion, with dozens of butlers and maids, but despite the number of people at home she still feels alone. Both her parents are busy with work, her brothers as well, while her only sister whom she's close with, graduated and started to work as well.

Because of that she'd always sneak out of the house and get herself in trouble. I might sound like a selfish son of a gun but I'm glad she snuck away that day... otherwise I wouldn't have met her.

"Kuro... you're spacing out again."

"Oh sorry." My apologies. I beamed a bit to show her I'm okay but she didn't return it.

She's showing she's not okay as her frown got pretty obvious now. I dropped my act and placed an arm over her so I can pull her closer to me for comfort.

"I don't know either but... I'll definitely do my best to convince them." I tell her.

"I love you..." she muttered as she buried her face in my chest.

"I love you too." I whispered back.

Somehow I noticed how much her mood has changed, how much faith she put in me. I'm relieved and grateful of course but... I'm not actually convinced with myself.

Her father tried to get rid of me several times now and I'm more worried of how it'll end up for Akira than how I'll end up when we get there.

We stayed like this for a while. My arms wrapped all over her, my chin over the crown of her head. She smells good as usual... ah what am I thinking?

The silence lasted until there was an announcement from the Captain about the upcoming fireworks tonight. Ah yes, it'll be New Year tomorrow.

"Oh no!" Akira suddenly jumped in panic.

"What's wrong?"

"I forgot to bring a yukata!"

"I- It's fine A-" no really, it's fine. She looked good no matter what she wears.

"But I want to show you how I look!" She said with a pout. "I made a promise after all!"

"Y- Yeah but maybe you can show me nex-"

"Not happening! A promise is a promise!"

With that, she ran to the stairs to go back to our room. I don't know what she's thinking specifically but it has something to do with buying one or borrowing one. Girls...

I shrugged it off and just leaned on the railing, with both my arms hanged and relaxed on it. On her 99th time in running away, I met her. And on her 108th time that she ran away, she ran to me and we ran away together. We didn't do anything though, she just wanted to be away from her home as far as possible.

Ahh I must be lying to myself, thinking we didn't do anything... we did. We fell in love with each other and now we're going back together to tell her parents.

I looked up at the sky to think. Somehow seeing the sky makes me feel at ease.

"Hey get down from there you might fall!" I heard one of the crew shouting.

Oh someone's going to commit suicide? I excitedly turned to the location where I heard the shout, there I saw a guy wearing a black hoodie with a monster mouth in front and red eyes printed in the hoodie and dark green jeans. He has a short black hair. And was sitting by the railing with his green eyes locked on the sky.

"Hey please get down from there! You might fall!" The crew member continued to plead with a very worried look on his face.

The guy got off safely from there and approached the crew member with a smile on his face.

What's with him?

Well for now, I'll just look forward in seeing Akira in her yukata and watch the fireworks with her. That'll be the best night ever.

But reaching with tonight's events, the fireworks was cancelled when the rain started to pour down endlessly before nightfall. Thunders roared repeatedly and everyone was told to stay in their rooms. But...

"You dropped your wallet?!" I was shocked myself.

"Y- Yeah but don't worry we'll find it tomorrow." Even if she says that, I can't be calm about this! What if someone picks it up or it's gone now?! I can't be calm about this! "Kuro-kun?"

"I'll find it." I definitely will.

"Eeeh? It's raining outside!" She grabbed my arm to stop me. But I'm really more worried of what will happen to her wallet than me getting soaked under the rain.

If anything happens to her because of that wallet...!

"It's okay! Since it's my birthday tomorrow I wish that you'd be here with me until then!" She hugged my arm and persistently pulled me back.

Crap! I almost forgot!

"I- I actually have a present for you." I remembered out loud.

"You do?"

"Yeah but... I prepared it out there, because I was supposed to give it while we watched the fireworks." It was stupid really but there's no way I'd leave my gift there too. I take her hand, squeezing it a bit. "I'll be back soon, I promise." I hope that'll calm her down.

"Oh geez, just hurry up then!"

In the end, I came back empty handed. I was soaked in water when I returned to our room. And the annoying part is that, when I returned, the rain stopped.

When I entered the room, Akira was sitting at the edge of the bed with a smug grin on her face. It's the face that tells me 'I told you we'll just find it tomorrow'. It was cute really but it's still an insult to me.

She didn't say anything because she knew she didn't have to. It was evident I knew what her face was saying already and that I'm aware of my defeat. I released a sigh as I head to the bathroom to change. Maybe we can talk later.

I was in the middle of washing myself when I heard the door slam outside. That idiot left without me.

"Akira! Where'd you go?" I ran to find her after quickly dressing up. Someone like her shouldn't be left alone in a place like this, especially at night!

While running, I took a sharp turn in the corner, I bumped into someone but none of us fell. We just stared at each other for a minute there until I was able to have a good glance at the little box wrapped in red and blue gift wrap in this fellow's hand.

He saw the look I was giving the gift and he smiled.

"Find it familiar?" He asked.

"It's mine." I have to get it back. "I was looking all over for it." When I tried to grab it, he puts it behind him.

"Or you could be another person claiming what's not yours." He says with a grin. I don't have time for this! Akira could be getting lost somewhere by now! "If you could name to whom this gift is for, then I'll return this to you."

He challenged me. I know he's provoking me to a fight but I won't fall for it. Thinking about it deeply, maybe he's sent by someone? Or maybe I'm over thinking because I'm panicking?

"Her name..." it won't hurt to say, will it? "...is Fuujin Akira."

In a matter of seconds, the gift was now in my hands. He threw it at me. What was that about? "Take good care of that. You wouldn't want to lose it a second time." He walked passed me and I hoped it was the last time I see him. He's a really strange fellow.

Oh right! I was looking for Akira!

I put the gift in my pocket so I can continue looking for her. The rain started to pour again. I just changed!

"Kuro! Look out!"

It was probably the last I heard before everything went black. All I saw was darkness. I didn't even know how long but when I came to, I was looking up at the bright blue sky, it was a sunny morning too.

I tried to stand, my back ached as hell, my head throbbed and my arm hurts. I forced myself to sit up either way, I found myself lying on the sand by the shore. The ocean touching my legs as it waves back and forth. I was covered in sand and that's annoying.

Did we sink? Or was it just me?

Looking at my surroundings, I realized that I was the only one washed up there. I'm probably in an island. I'll just find a village or something then call home or call Akira. Then everything will be alright...

"Oh you're awake!" That voice!

"You!"

I jumped away from him. He came out of nowhere, what's with this guy?

"I left to get something to eat." He says casually. I noticed the set of fruits in his hands. "You sure sleep like a log."

I don't want to listen to you. "Is there a village nearby? Anywhere we can call for help?"

"As far as I've explored, we're stranded in an uninhabited island." He explains to me. I would've been fine but why is he smiling while saying that?! "Looks like it'll be just you and me for now, mister."

"Don't call me that! I'm Kuro!"

"Oh you're right, where are my manners? I'm Kanabe. A pleasure to meet you, Kuro-kun."

To be stuck with this guy wouldn't be so bad. At least it's not like any cliché situations where I'm stranded with a girl and fall in love with her. Definitely not. So just this situation, I'm thankful.

Don't worry Akira, I'll be home soon. For now, we just have to survive being apart for a bit.
