Twins 99 Volume 1 – How Heroes Start Chapter 1: Superpowers Exist?!

My name is Javon Sankoh. And, I have to be honest. My life is boring. I live with my twin brother and my dad. My brother’s name is Jovan. Yeah, I know. Our names are pretty similar. Our dad says our mom came up with the names. That’s actually all we know about our mom. Anyway, enough about that. Our first day at Porcupine High School starts tomorrow! Yes, it is a horrible name. However, this is a BIG moment! This is the time in anime where the main character’s whole life changes from one single event! This could turn my colorless life around!I could become a badass superhero and have a girlfriend. Yeah right, like I’d get THAT lucky.In middle school, I was a complete NOBODY. I only hanged out with 5 people and they were all guys. That includes Jovan and Jordan. Jordan is a good friend of mine. I’ve known him ever since the start of middle school. I couldn’t make friends with any girls. I just don’t know how to talk to them. Still, I know what to do with a girl because of the anime I watched. Depending on the girl, you have to either be the sensitive and caring type or the aggressive type. I try to do a little of both, yet there were some difficulties. Last year in 8th grade, I walked up to a pretty girl in my class. She dropped her pencil. “Oh, you dropped this.” I picked up the pencil and gave it to her. “Thank you.” “It’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Javon Sankoh.” “Oh hi, Javon Sankoh. My name is Carol Sanders.” She cutely smiled at me. Then, I turned on the Usui Switch. “Sanders? You must love going to the beach.” I said as I walked closer to Carol while smiling. “I actually do.” Carol replied while giggling. It was actually working. “I could also tell by your eyes. They’re blue, like the ocean.” I stared into her eyes as I stepped even closer to her. “They make me feel like I’m lost at sea.” She immediately blushed. I had her right where I wanted her. I could tell just by looking at her that her heart was racing. “Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh ,uh.” She repeatedly said. Suddenly, I felt a push and we both fell to the floor. I ended up on top of her and both of my hands were on… Her boobs. Honestly, they felt like a dream. Like I was inside an anime. Then, it hit me.Classic anime cliche. And if the girl isn’t in love with you, it’s a real bitch. Her face instantly turns red. “YOU PERVERT!” She angrily yells. She slapped me and quickly got up. “Come on, I didn't plan that!" Alright, who’s the dick who pushed me?!” I turned around and saw 3 friends of mine. They were laughing immensely. “You assholes! It was those V-watches!” “Horrible comeback.” The 3 guys mentioned. “Wait, you two just watched them do this?!” I questioned Jovan and Jordan. “Yeah. If you got a girl, you’d just be a jerk about it and say how we’re all virgins.” “You're right. I probably would have. That one thing messed up my chances with girls in middle school. I just wish I could have made of friends with at least one girl. I would have been fine with a reverse harem as long as I got the girl. But, that was middle school. High school has girls from several other schools. Not every girl is gonna know I’m a pervert. And, that’s just one positive. I could get superpowers. A whole bunch of things can happen on the first day of school! It”s time to start my boring life anew. The next day, August 25, 2014. Jovan and I wake up for our first day of school. I feel ecstatic. I am about to go to high school. Today is the day my life changes. We got dressed and prepared to leave for school. "Do you two have everything you need?" Dad asks. "Yes." We both reply. "Okay, then have a good first day of school." "We will, bye." We exit our house and enter... Japan. We eventually make it to school and stand outside of the school door. "Jo, this is it." "I know. Everything has been leading up to this moment." "Let's do this." We open the door and go inside Porcupine High School. Later on, we enter our classroom. "Oh, we have the same class." "It's not just you two shit stains." Who was that? We look around and see Jordan. "Jordan, what’s up?" "Yeah, man, how was your summer?" Jovan and I wonder. "It was fine. I didn't really do anything." Jordan replies as he walks toward us. "Oh." We disappointingly say. "What did you expect?!" "A longer answer." Jovan responds. "Oh please, you two probably didn't do anything either." "Yeah, your answer would have made our summer sound interesting." I sarcastically add. "Shut up." Jordan quickly comments. Unfortunately, Jordan is right. Our summer was boring too. I look across the classroom and see none other than Carol Sanders. She stares at me then she instantly looks away in a hateful way. Man, out of all people to be in the same class as me. I have to make sure she doesn't spread rumors about what happened last year. I casually walk towards Carol. “Hey, Carol.” “Why are you here?” Carol rudely says. “Don’t be like that. How have you been? I’ve haven’t seen you in a month.” “I was fine about a few seconds ago.” “What changed?” “Your appearance.” Carol disrespectfully answers. “Alright, I’ll cut to the chase. Can you please not tell anyone about what happened in 8th grade.” “Sure thing.” “Really?” I reply with excitement. “Yeah, anything for the guy that groped me.” She sarcastically responds. “Well, thank you.” Damn, that bitch is determined to ruin my life! “You can go now.” I leave and go back to Jovan and Jordan. “How did it go?” Jovan questions. “Not good.” I say as I unhappily bow my head. “I’m pretty sure we all went into the future and literally saw that coming.” Jordan states. "Hey, what's up, Javon." "It's been a while." "How's it going?" Three guys say as they walk up to me. Oh, it's the STDs that infected me, except I don't know their actual names. "Hey, you, him, and that guy." "Seriously, you don't know our names!" They yell. "It's not my fault that I never asked!" "His logic isn't even logic. All I hear is asshole." Jordan comments. "So, who are you guys?" Jovan asks. "You didn't know either!" Jordan adds. The three boys sigh. "I’m Sebastian." "I’m Tyler." "And, I’m David." The first letter in their names seriously says it. I quietly laugh. "What's so funny?" Sebastian questions. "Nothing, I'll save that joke for another time. Anyway, what’s up?" "You see that purple poison over there?" Sebastian says as he points at a purple haired girl. "Yeah, she’s hot." Jovan answers while staring at her. "She puts the non out of fiction." Jordan comments, also staring at her. "Right." Tyler and David automatically say. Yeah, she’s definitely from the anime world, but… "I don’t know." "What do you mean you don’t know?!" They all wonder. "She looks mysterious like a person who hides her true identity and fights crime at night as a superhero named the Purple Woman, who is the girlfriend of the Purple Man, who is a villain so she is actually a villain, however she’s still suffering from the pain of committing a crime so she doesn’t know what to do." They immediately give me blank stares. "You read WAY too much manga and comics." Jordan concludes. "How did you even come up with that?" Sebastian says as he’s confused. "Jovan, you think she’s hot, right?" Tyler asks. "Yeah." “Good, now we only care about your opinion." David says. We all start choosing our seats. I sit in the middle of the classroom, Jovan sits to my left. Jordan sits in front of me. Sebastian, Tyler, and David sit away from me on the right. After that, the teacher walks in the classroom. “Hello, kids, my name is Mr.Thomas and I am your English teacher. It’s a pleasure to meet all of you. We will now be starting class. I will begin roll.” Mr. Thomas commences calling for students’ names. Of course, Jovan sits next to purple poison. He’s staring at her like she’ll disappear if he looks away. “Man, she’s so beautiful. Alright, Jovan, calm down. Even if she’s a 2 x 5, that doesn’t mean I count the stars in her eyes.” Jovan thinks in his head as he tries to stop looking at the purple haired girl. “That dude is getting whipped with the lasso of truth.” “Yeah, you can see the purple poison in his eyes. He definitely has a thing for her.” Jordan and I joke. “Oh, shut the hell up.” Jovan says as he looks at me and Jordan. “They’re still right though.” “We saw you eye banging her from here.” “Damn, talk about accuracy. Give that man his change.” Sebastian, Tyler, and David state. “My god, if the acid didn’t make the Joker crazy, this moonshine would’ve.” “Javon Sankoh.” Mr. Thomas calls. “Here.” “Jovan Sankoh.” “Here.” Jovan replies. “Oh, so we have twins in class.” Ah, damn it. Here comes the struggles of being a twin. “Yes, we’re twins. I’m Javon.” “And, I’m Jovan.” “Wow, even your names sound alike.” Mr. Thomas observes in amazement. Everyone gazes at us, looking intrigued. They all quickly walk over to us. “Can you read each other’s minds?” “Who was born first?” “Can you feel each other’s pain?” “Are you two always together?” THE SAME QUESTIONS! OVER AND OVER AGAIN! Jovan and I sigh. “Whoever thought of your names didn’t put much thought into them.” An unknown student says. What did that guy just say? “What did you just say?” I angrily ask as I instantly appear in front of him. “I want to know too.” Jovan fiercely adds as he walks toward the student. “Okay, I’m sorry I said anything. Just please stop.” The student frighteningly begs as if he sees dark energy. “Everybody, calm down and take your seats.” Mr. Thomas commands. The student slowly crawls back to his seat while everyone else walks back to their seats. Mr. Thomas is right. We need to calm down. Jovan and I start going back to our seats. “Whoa, for a second, Javon and Jovan looked serious.” Jordan notes. “You can say that again.” Sebastian, Tyler, and David all announce. The purple haired girl looks very shocked as she sees Jovan sit in his seat. “I’m sorry you had to see that.” Jovan apologizes. “It’s okay, being a twin must be tough, huh.” The purple haired girl wonders. “You have no idea.” “My name is Selena Vanle. It is a pleasure to meet you.” She energetically smiles at him. “My name is Jovan Sankoh.” “Sweet, this is an anime wish come true.” Jovan fantasizes in his head. I sit in my seat. Man, I wonder what got over me. I felt different. Maybe, I was just mad because I thought he was insulting our mom. "Alright, let's begin class." Mr. Thomas says. Mr. Thomas basically explains his rules and what he expects from us. He also gives us some papers for our parents to sign. The bell rings and we get going on to our next class. Math. "Hey, Javon and Jovan, are you two okay?" Jordan worries while we walk to class. "We're fine." Jovan and I calmly answer. "Good, because for a second back there, you two looked like the undead." "What are you talking about?" Jovan questions. "He's talking about how you two were about to prey him." Sebastian says even as he walks behind us. Tyler and David also are with him. "I don't think you used that word right." I comment. "Anyhow, he's just saying that you two seriously looked as if you wanted revenge on that student." Tyler explains. "Yeah sure, we wanted vengeance on him because he dared to open his mouth and speak syllables that sounded like a sin covered in a question." Jovan ironically claims. "That’s the reason." David wonders. "There is NO reason!" Jovan and I instantly scream. "Okay, we get it." Jordan states. "How do we know for sure?" I ask. "Because our ears paid the damn price for it!" Sebastian, Tyler, and David yell. We walk inside math class and sit in the same seats we sat in from english class. “I don’t consider what Javon and I did a bad thing. If anything, it was Cupid in disguise.” Jovan concludes in his mind when he looks at Selena. Selena cheerfully smiles at him. What is with today?! Why do I see fire and brimstones?! Nothing is happening! Today actually feels like… SCHOOL! Today is supposed to be the day that my life flashes in front my eyes! Wait, I need to mollify myself. The day isn’t over yet. Anything can STILL happen! I have to believe in the anime angels. The math teacher comes into the classroom. “Hello, everybody, my name is Mrs. Miller and I am your math teacher. It is a pleasure to have all of you as my students. Let’s begin class.” Mrs. Miller starts taking roll. I look out the window, feeling bored. Who in the DC Comics?! I see a big blue skinned guy outside! "HOLY SHIT!" I shout just as I stand up. The entire class looks at me with astonishment. "What is it, um, Javon?" Mrs. Miller inquires. "There is a Darkseid looking guy outside of the school!" Everyone immediately gives me weird looks as if I'm imagining things. Crap, I forgot not everyone knows about DC Comics. "There is a blue skinned man outside!" Everyone's faces stay the same. "Still?!" "Please sit down." Mrs. Miller commands. "JESUS CHRIST, JUST LOOK OUT THE WINDOW!" Everybody decides to look out the window. "I don't see anyone with blue skin." "Yeah, dude, none of these people look like Darkseid." Mrs. Miller and Jordan confirm. What? I run over to the window. I can still see him! Jovan walks over to the window. "Javon's right, I can see him. But, how come no one else can?" Jovan determines. The blue skinned man begins to turn around. "Crap, if he sees me and Javon, we're screwed." Jovan grabs me and we squat down on the floor. "You two are retarded." Sebastian comments. "Mrs. Miller, please continue taking roll. Those perverts don't have common sense." A female student requests. "What the hell, you still remember that!" "I wasn't even with him!" We complain. "You're right, I'll continue taking roll. You two can sit down." Mrs. Miller says. We get up and go back to our seats. Damn, only Jovan and I see him. Hmm, this might be a sign... That we're the ones that are supposed to defeat him! This is what the anime angels gave me! I knew something would happen! Jovan and I smile at each other.We immediately got out of our seats and run out of the classroom. "Where are you two going?" Mrs. Miller asks. "To save the world." I reply, sounding cool. "To the bathroom." Jovan responds as if my answer was a joke. Everyone in class ignores what we did while Selena looks curious. We exit school and run into the blue skinned guy. "Alright, Darkseid, who the hell are you?" I question. The blue skinned man stays silent like I am talking to someone else. "Answer the question." Jovan orders. He still remains quiet. Meanwhile, civilians are looking at us like we're crazy. I can’t blame them. Right now, we look like we’re talking to a guy named Air. "You two are talking to me." The blue skinned man confirms. "Who else?!" We yell. He takes out a big gun from behind his back. He aims it straight at us. What the?! Crap, he's about to shoot us! What are we gonna do?! Energy begins charging inside the gun. Is this how we're going to die? Trying to defeat some random guy that no one can see? Hell no! I won't accept this! There has to be a way! I don't want to die! I CAN'T DIE! The blue colored man fires a gigantic blast at us. A huge explosion occurs. 1/3 of the school gets destroyed. Multiple students and teachers get injured while some citizens also get caught in the crossfire. The front of the school is covered in debris. How do I know all of this? Because somehow... We avoided the blast. "So, your power is superspeed." The blue colored man concludes. "What?" I appear farther from the school. "Is going on?" Jovan is still close to the school, however he has some scratches. Is this for real? We look at each other stunningly. Jovan notices my shoes look dirty while I notice his eyes are blue. "SUPERPOWERS EXIST!!!!" We shriek.
